A compass in hand

A guide for those who are searching

August 12, 20233 min read

You are plodding through life not really sure why you bother. Confused. Disorientated. With a profound sense that you don’t belong here on Planet Earth.

You somehow get through each day. Pushing. Trying. Using all your willpower. Hoping against hope that things will work out. That one day you’ll magically wake up feeling better.

But the trouble is, that day never arrives. Day after day rolls on in the same old pattern. Everything is an effort, and you seriously begin to wonder how you haven’t run out of steam yet. Run out of gas. Run out of life.

But not many people have noticed your struggles, maybe just a few close family and friends who pick up on the subtler signs.  To everyone else, you look like you are getting on OK in life, or at least OK enough. You might even be “succeeding” according to the strange measures of the world at large.

You hear people talk about health, vibrancy, wellness, healing – and you just laugh to yourself wryly. Those things aren’t for you. You’ve tried stuff, plenty of it – but quite frankly, none of it has worked. Everything has felt superficial, barely scratching the surface of what you feel going on inside you.

It’s a dark whirlwind in there, a cocktail of feelings and emotions that you don’t really know what do to with.  You don’t even know where they all came from.  Oftentimes you keep your emotions under control, but sometimes a strong one bubbles up to the surface and you just can’t control it, can’t handle it.  People around you don’t understand why you’re reacting the way you are.

And it goes further than that. Truth be told, your health problems have accumulated over time, into a rather intimidating mountain of issues that you’re not sure how to tackle any more. You’re embarrassed when someone asks you about your health, and you don’t tell them about the whole, long, depressing list of symptoms. You edit your truth to appear more acceptable to society.

And yet. Despite all of this difficulty and stress, there’s a strange note of hope inside you. You can’t quite put your finger on it. But, in your quieter moments, you know there’s a reason why you’re in this world. And you know that the current state of affairs isn’t right. Things can and should be different. You laugh at yourself for entertaining such ridiculous notions – and yet, and yet…you can’t shift this stubborn, persistent, and yet unbelievably faint notion of hope.

But how, how, how??? You have an inkling about your intended destination, but you have absolutely no idea how to get there, how to even take the first step.

If you’re lucky, a good and faithful guide will appear to help you take your first faltering steps on your truest life journey. Or perhaps your own deepest intuition will guide you. Even then, true liberation feels impossibly far away, but a momentum starts to build…slowly…slowly…

Wherever you are on your journey, finding a guide who speaks to your spirit as well as to your mind, body and emotions is crucial. Someone who gets you. Gets your struggles. Gets your truth. And can help you transform your current reality into something beautiful as you journey towards liberation and peace. It may take some time. It is unlikely to be easy. It will definitely take a lot of patience, courage and faith.

But the destination you long for exists. You are the expert, and your guide is just a guide, someone who can help you navigate in the dark until the light begins to dawn a bit more brightly. Are you ready to get started on the journey?
